| Description:
|
It is the policy of Southern Coos Health district to promote the health, well being, and safety of patients, visitors, and employees while on the District campus. Tobacco is a proven health and safety hazard, both to the tobacco user and non-smokers who are exposed to second-hand smoke, carrying very serious health risks. It has been proven to be the leading cause of preventable death in the United States and its use is inconsistent with our healthcare mission. The use of tobacco products on our campus compromises our image as a healthcare institution.
The use of tobacco is prohibited:
•In all areas within District buildings
•On all property maintained by the District, whether leased or owned; adjacent sidewalks, gardens, and parking lots
•In all vehicles owned, leased, or rented by the District, and
•In all employee vehicles when parked on District property
Although we understand the stress associated with the hospitalization of friends and family members, we ask any visitor to the hospital who must smoke, to please confine their use of tobacco products to private vehicles.
We appreciate the support from our community as we implement this beneficial policy. |
